The Housewares Charity Foundation is committed to raising funds as well as awareness for breast cancer research, evidenced by the $21 million raised since the 1998 inception of our charity foundation.
This year was no different as the HCF raised over $2.4 million alone (going over $2 million for the third consecutive year), setting a single year record, benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer and The Texas Tech University Breast Care Center.
The annual Charity Gala takes place every year on the Monday evening during the International Home + Housewares Show. This year’s event honored Barbara Turf, CEO/President of Crate & Barrel as the Lifetime Humanitarian, and Jerry Rubin, Chairman, CEO and President, of Helen of Troy for the Humanitarian of the Year.
The 2011 Housewares Charity Foundation Gala was truly a great event. The night was spent in the ballroom of the Chicago Hilton where guests dined on cuisine prepared by world renowned James Beard award-winning Chefs and had the opportunity to win trips and prizes through auction. The celebrity chefs included Tony Mantuano, Shawn McClain, Arun Sampanthavivat, Marcus Samuelsson, and Sarah Stenger & George Bumbaris. Each Chef created specialty courses for a different segment of the ballroom.
The 2012 Gala—HCF’s 15th Anniversary—will be held Monday evening, March 12, at the Hilton Chicago. For more information about the Housewares Charity Foundation, its Honorees and its charities, please visit www.housewarescharity.orgor contact Judy Colitz at 847.692.0126 or jcolitz@housewares.org.
