In October, Hotelier Ian Schrager premiered his new hotel brand, Public Hotels, in Chicago. Being the first hotel to open under the new brand, Public Chicago has taken residence in the former Ambassador East Hotel located in Chicago’s exclusive Gold Coast neighborhood. The hotel is walking distance to some of the city’s best dining and shopping opportunities on the Magnificent Mile and also to the vibrant nightlife of Rush Street.
The hotel is described as an “entirely new class of hotel that addresses the needs and wants of today’s sophisticated and savvy guest. Its fundamental attributes are innovative, chic, authentic style; spot-on, friendly, personalized, empathetic service; and lasting comfort with complete functionality, all at a tremendous value.”
Combining a stylish experience with affordability, this hotel offers 285 spacious guest rooms and suites brilliantly decorated in a “no color” palette. As for the value of your stay, complimentary high-speed Internet is available to all hotel guests in addition to their low convention rate of $139 a night!
While adding contemporary flare to this historic property, Public Chicago embraced its heritage when re-opening the infamous PUMP ROOM, just with a modern twist. James Beard award winning chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten created the restaurant’s new food concept featuring “re-imagined” delectable favorites at reasonable prices. The restaurant also features a curated display of vintage PUMP ROOM photographs during Hollywood’s Golden Era when legendary names such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Marilyn Monroe, Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Ronald Reagan and Bette Davis were regular guests.
