If selling to the Mexican market is underestimated and complicated, selling into the high end market is even more complicated. It requires sensibility and understanding of how the social structure operates many Latin countries.

Casa Palacio, El Palacio de Hierro’s high end spin off venture debuted in 2006 and has since become a local and international reference as one of the most edgy home stores in the market. Casa has received several awards including the gia Award, honoring retail excellence in 2007.

Putting distance from the departmental mother company, Casa Palacio is permanently looking for new ways to stun their customers and keep the magic alive. Teodoro Rodriguez, Purchasing Director for Casa Palacio, is in part responsible for creating and developing this successful store model. He also was involved in the even newer concept La Boutique Palacio, which blends both the home and fashion categories.  In order for vendors and American distributors who are interested in selling in Mexico and to Palacio Group to better understand what it takes to do so, Teodoro will present an overview of the Mexican market and explain some of the regulations and requisites needed to export into that market. He will also point out differences between the department store and Casa as well as key things they take into consideration when looking and selecting brands and products.
