Registration is underway for the 2013 HECNA Global Forum taking place in Panama City, Panama from September 15-18. Within the agenda are key retailer presentations, networking events and a tabletop tradeshow at which participants will have a chance to showcase their products to Central American buyers. In addition, there will be an optional trip to the Colon Duty Free Trade Zone during which attendees will meet with May’s Zona Libre, a key Latin American distributor. Those never having visited the Colon Duty Free Trade Zone are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about this area responsible for annual re-exports of merchandise valued at over $7 billion.
Among other pragmatic topics geared toward helping attendees focus on international sales opportunities and efficiencies, the HECNA Global Forum will feature two speakers focusing on Export Compliance. Through a thorough session dedicated to arming attendees with the necessary tools to prepare an internal company survey, focusing on the risks and priorities of export compliance, BSG Consulting’s Maarten Sengers will provide novice and experienced exporters with the know-how to approach this often-daunting task. Mr. Sengers will concentrate on practical methods of complying with the necessary regulations to ensure that exporters are within the rules administered by US Departments of State, Commerce & Treasury.
Further defining the topic of export compliance, Donald Moffet, Director of Global Complance & Quality Assurance for Wilton Brands, will underscore the laws for compliance for products entering the European Union.
